In Qontrol 2011 aflyst

Almost 100.000 signed petitions have not convinced the Dutch government to stop their plans to increase the VAT on event tickets from 6% to 19%. The plan to save on culture- and mediabudgets will be sustained. The measurements will not only have large consequences for artists, foundations and other businesses in the cultural sector, but will also affect Q-dance and its events. The proposed VAT increase will rise the price of dance event tickets in The Netherlands substantially.
Due to all the above, Q-dance had to make the very painfull decision to not host another edition of In Qontrol in 2011. Q-dance wants to guarantee the same quality as the last 7 editions of In Qontrol, but with the upcoming VAT increase, we couldn't do this anymore without increasing the ticket price significantly. With great memories on all the moments we shared together in the Amsterdam RAI, we look back on 7 wonderful editions of In Qontrol.
Q-dance also decided not to start ticket sales for the summer festivals earlier as usual, as the month December is already pricey enough. Q-BASE is the only event that won't be affected by the governments measurements, as it's held in Germany.
As an end often symbolizes new beginnings, Q-dance looks ahead into the future with much optimism. In 2011 Q-dance will launch a few new concepts, like a hardcore event in the Heineken Music Hall. At the end of 2011 the 'Ziggo Dome' in Amsterdam will open the gates, and Q-dance will kick-off the dance program with a new event.
